Roses for Zoe

COMMEMORATING Zoe's first visit to their Aussie home, Kongkie and Poppy have planted a new rose bush called Mother's Love in the garden.

But we will have to wait till our next visit to see the fruit of their labour.

It rained this morning which made us feel a little better after getting thrown off the golf course after waking up at 530am to squeeze in nine holes before the Saturday comp.

Since we were up and it was D's last day, we headed to Kings' St for brekkie. Then we did some shopping at Garbo, lunch and the markets at Freo...

(Check out the amazing blue mosaic mirror in the background. I just lurve it!)

...and finally, a long walk along the river in Applecross.

Altogether, Zoe reckoned it was a kickass day.

On the river

AFTER our morning nine holes, we met Michy and Holly at South Perth supposedly for brunch.

It was such a lovely morning and we thought it would be a shame to waste it indoors so we decided to go on a ferry ride across the river to the city.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

But there wasn't a lot to do once we got to the other side. Holly had a paddle in a water feature while Zoe had a nap.

After about fifteen minutes, we hopped back on the ferry back to the other side to find a nice cafe to hang out at.

Like a sunday but not

THE weather has been great. Azure skies and aircon comfort.

After golf today, Zoe and I caught some rays by the pool.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Mid-afternoon and it was time for hot bevvies. We went down the road to a cafe by the river. Zoe had her arvo Z's while we caught up on the news.

Pop and fizz

I BOUGHT the whole range of Chandon champers. There are a couple of missing bottles coz they've been drunk!

Something to celebrate:

I played golf today...

...and I didn't suck!

But could only play nine holes as I couldn't be away from the bubba for too long.

Cheers

And daddy makes three

AFTER church, we had tim sum and then headed off to the airport to pick D up. By the time we got back home, it was almost 4pm. The day almost done.

Zoe and I took him to stretch his legs. Here's me getting mine stretched:

Postcard from Zoe

A DAY of gardening was on the cards. It was super boring.

Kongkie was pulling green spindly things out of the flower bed and sweeping up.

I was about to yell for some attention. Like someone take me for a walk already

Then Poppy decided to sing to me.

Rain or shine

THE skies were cloudy and blue so to be safe we had the sunnies and the raincovers out when we went for a walk.

Holly visits "bubba Doey"

HOLLY and Michy came over to play.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Gosh, her little one has really grown up. Last year when I was here, I was preggo and Holly was just learning how to walk. Now she's running and chit-chatting away.

We hung out at home in the morning, had oodles of noodles for lunch, and then went for a walk to the playground. We sat on the swings, played in the sandpit and just hung out. It was lovely.

They left about 3.30pm when I put Zoe down for a nap. It's now almost 6pm and she's still out for the count.

I tried to wake her about 5.15pm but she thought it was just rude. Loud complaints, until I put her down on the beanbag.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I just hope she sleeps just as well tonight!

This is the first time Mich and I have hung out with both of us as Mommies. Needless to say, with a bubbly two-year-old and a four-month-er, we didn't manage to catch up on much.

So we're going to have a dinner date later in the week without the bubs.

A walk by the river

WE woke up at 6.30am to bright blue skies.

After breakfast, Zoe and I headed off for a long walk.

But as soon as I left the house, she started fussing and I thought so much for the walk.

Then I spotted a little bench and sat down with her in the warm sunshine. She had a bit of a feed and promptly fell asleep.

So I continued with my walk.

It was a cool 14 degrees and it was just so lovely to be walking by the river under sunny blue skies with little Mopes.

Just what I had been looking forward to.

The hour-long walk had me starving and when we went to Garden City to stock up on groceries, I wolfed down a lamington, a huge latte and large Red Rooster chips.

Mmmmm. Chips.

Made a small purchase for Zoe, seen here with Kongkie.

Week 20: I'm leaving on a jetplane

...WITH a twenty-week old baby.

A smart move?

Well, Zoe was very good so the experience was not bad at all.

We had a very early start as we had to meet my foggies at the counter at 7.30am. D's parents very kindly sent us off at the airport.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Zoe and I had a stupendous amount of luggage - two large suitcases, a golf bag, a car seat and a pram. I ended up leaving behind the travel cot.

No more travelling light with a baby in tow!
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Luckily, my mum had "influence" (ie. being ex-airport staff, she had friends in high places) so we had no problems with weight issues and got invites to the very chic BA/QF biz class lounge. Zoe was very impressed with her gran's connections.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
But how come the bar's not open at 8am?

The flight was half-empty so we managed to score a row of four seats to ourselves. Thankfully, there were no problems with the take-off. I bfed her so her ears were ok. No crying. Phew!

Having woken up at 5am, Zoe was tired and went down for a snooze pretty quickly.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
My mommy's pashmina is soooo soft and warm.

With her tucked safely away in the bassinet, I settled down to watch The Da Vinci Code.

But an hour or so into the movie, Zoe was ready to play.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Send in the clowns!

I threw some toys in her "playpen" hoping that she'd entertain herself but she wasn't having any of it. Her idea of fun was to be walked up and down, up and down, up and down the aisle.

Finally, I had enough and passed her over to Liz who found a way of keeping her happy - Robbie Williams!
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Managed to finish the movie (not so great huh?) and before I knew it, we were about to touch down in Perth.

That was when poor Zoe had a freak out.

She just couldn't understand what was going on. Just as Dr K suspected, the descent was making her ears hurt. I tried to bfeed her but she was too upset. So I dripped water into her mouth, hoping she'd swallow so that her ears would pop.

In the end, it was my ears that hurt - from her wailing.

Week 19.5: I FINALLY left her ALONE

BABIES are kinda like designer bags.

After a while, it doesn't hurt so much when you get a little mark on them or a crease in the leather.

Give it a little more time and you'll be okay with leaving it on the floor rather than demanding an extra chair for it at a restaurant.

Well, I kinda had a designer bag moment with Zoe today.

It was WML's birthday and Zoe had been very difficult all morning. She woke up at 5am and didn't sleep even until 1.45pm when I left the house.

I thought it would be unfair of me to drag her to a restaurant all sleepy-eyed to watch me eat lunch and gossip with the girls.

So... I did it.

I left my baby at home alone.

The maid looked after her for the first time without a third party around.

It worked out okay. Zoe was happy enough.

So why do I feel bad? Or maybe I feel bad that I don't feel bad.

Not quite made in Singapore...

JUST when you stick a Return to Sender label on, she morphs into an angel.

So I guess we'll be keeping her.

Crash Bang... Kapow

Thunder and lightning.

Rude awakenings for the wee lass.

While I blog this, I am just waiting for Mopes to YELL.

When she does, I'll shove a boob in her mouth and then I'm off for some "me" time - and to sort out my very sore back.

Yes, 90 minutes of rub-a-dub-dub. Bliss.

So, it's father and daughter time:

Update: She didn't wake up and she was an angel the whole time I was gone, which leaves me thinking: How come she bullies me?

One of those days...

...and one of those nights too.

In fact, it has been three of those nights.

They say there will be good days and there will be bad ones.

Well, it has been a bad one today.

How come they didn't mention anything about the nights?

I really don't know why she's been so angst ridden. Maybe it was the travelling to Singapore. Maybe she's teething. Maybe it's a growth spurt. Maybe it's coz she is learning new things.

Here's little Miss Cry Baby in Strawberry Shortcake when I took her to the club earlier today. This is the best mood she's been in two days, which as you can see isn't very good at all:

I hope this phase is over SOON.

Zoe's first holiday

GUESS where we're off to... exciting Perth! Heh.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

We're leaving on a jet plane on the 18th!

Zoe will be 20 weeks old exactly.

Needless to say, it will be an "interesting" experience - especially the plane ride.

He loves me... he loves me not

WHILE waiting for C & Benj and Y & Matt to begin our lunch date, I thought I'd entertain Zoe with the table arrangements.

Zoe, this is a ffffllllooowwwwer.
This is what boys will give you when they do something wrong.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Flowers are also useful in helping you decide on important stuff like:
Who will be my boyfriend today? Matt or Benj... Matt or Benj...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
But there was no teaching her. Zoe decided to eat it.
