Langkawi

IT doesn't feel like a beach holiday until I strap on my bikini and cover my cellulite with a tie-dye sarong.

However, I've not quite made it to the beach yet, where my husband lies with his trashy novel and a freshly squeezed pineapple-orange mix.

Instead, I'm here in the room salivating as I look out onto a lovely sunny view of a salt water pool while Z naps.

So near, yet so far.

At least there's wireless broadband. And the room is pretty lush, with a huge bedroom and bath, as well as two TV lounges and airy balconies. Some consolation, I suppose.

We had an early start with a 8.30am ride to KLIA, then an hour's flight during which I had to manage a squirmy baby in a tight middle economy seat.

After checking in, we headed to Saffron, which serves Mediterranean food. My determined soon-to-be-walker, sick of being contained all morning, just wanted to explore...

...while all I wanted to do was feast!

First, I had a refreshing Seafood Medley of one scallop, two mussels, a slice of smoked salmon, smattering of fresh seared tuna, one grilled prawn and chopped octopus salad (RM 48.00). Then a light grilled Blue Eye Cod with roasted capsicum, almond basmati rice and mutabel (RM 58.00).

D started with the Spiced Prawns Quesadilla filled with grilled prawn, tomatoes, kidney beans,
cheddar cheese and jalapeno chillies with tomato salsa, guacamole and sour cream (RM 37.00) followed by a quickly demolished Surf and Turf served with oven roasted potatoes, red and yellow pimentos and lemon thyme jus (RM 69.00).

Burp!

Though isn't it funny how the Italian crockery looks like plastic foodcourt plates?

Kwa Chee

IT'S good for babies to explore. Busy little hands.

Different textures. Different shapes. Different sounds.

But we sure had to keep a close eye on her in case she decided to explore with her mouth for a different taste.

The magic room

ZOE must think lifts are magic rooms, according to her father.

She enters one and ding ding ding in a couple of minutes she ends up in a totally different place.

Like today, when we went from home to pool in a flash.

Or maybe she thinks her bike is a magic carpet of sorts.

Wee baby winkies

SOMETIMES I can't help but wink at her.

Now she's taken to winking back, although she can't quite co-ordinate closing just one eye.

Baby winks.

On another note, her hair has been growing.

We finally managed to gather enough strands to keep a clip in!

Here she is looking a little bit more girly:

A punk in the park

EXCUSE the greasy face, messy hair and nerdy glasses - blame it on looking after a baby for a day.

Finally at 5.30pm, D and I decided to do some power walking at the KLCC park.

The weather has been so hot though.

One round of the park and Z started fussing.

"Carry meeee, all 10 kgs of meeeee! All over the park. Up and down the hills,", she whined in baby talk.

Had to pick her up or risk her over-heating from yelling.

Spotted a water fountain and I let her play with the jets to cool down a little.

As you can see, she got a little wet. Since the flat wet look was out, I did a quick Tony $ Guy... Voila!

Forty botty winks

SHE'S found a new sleeping position over the last week.

Can't imagine it's very comfy...

"People who say they sleep like a baby usually don't have one.”

Tommy's Birthday

JUST back from Tommy's birthday party.

Unfortunately (ahem!), Dan couldn't make it coz he's down with the flu.

It was quite fun to meet everyone's other halves. The fathers all tried to sort out the babies for a while, but in the end, they ended back up in their mothers' arms. Anyway, the fathers did a better job nursing their beers.

Z had a great time for about an hour and a bit. Then she began to fuss and fussss and fusssssssss. She needed a sleep so we left just after the cake was cut.

Reflections at TEN months

DEAR Z,

The day I thought would never arrived did.

You slept through the night!

On the eve of your 10th month birthday, you slept from 7.30pm to 7am!

I was so amazed.

What a good, good baby girl.

You didn't wake up once. You didn't even fuss, much less demand your usual night milk feed. I didn't even have to pop into your room once.

So from this day forth, hopefully, you'll be sleeping through the night!

7pm to 7am.

Keep it up, baby!

Love,
Mom

Updated:

1/3: The next night. You slept at 7 .... and woke up at 12.30pm, only to fall back asleep at 2.30am. Arghhhhhhhh! But then, you didn't need a night feed and you finally woke up at 6.45am.

2/3: You slept through the night without fuss again! It wasn't an anomaly, after all! My good little baby girl, you slept from 7pm - 6.30am. No fuss. Nothing!

3/3: So you fussed a little. At 11.30pm, 1.30am, 2.30am, 4.30am. But all I had to do was pat you a little and you fell right back into a deep slumber. You woke up at 6.30am.

Hmm... I really need to get some better photos for this month's post.

But here is a funny one.

You were very tired from a day's play. You were quietly eating your dinner and you eyes were getting heavier and you head was drooping lower and lower.

You actually fell asleep while eating your dessert.

See the piece of apple that popped out of your mouth?
