DEAR Z,
You are blossoming.
In the last month, you've learnt how to clap your hands, wave goodbye, sit from being belly down, pull yourself up into a standing position, and scoot backwards.
And you are on the brink of being a fully fledged CRAWLER!
How far you've come in just one month.
Everyone is warning me about what a handful you will be once you are able to scoot about on your own. You are super curious about everything, which means I'll be chasing after you quite a bit!
Playtime at the moment though is still pretty sane. You'll sit and play with your toys. You also love books. In fact, a Ladybird picture book is your favourite toy.
Your energy levels are pretty high, which probably stems from your love of food. You are such a good girl with your food. You scoff up green veges, fruit, bread, soup, rice krispies... in fact, everything I feed you!
You are doing well with your bottle too. Drinking about 21-24 ounces a day. You are doing so well that it's almost impossible to believe that just a month or so ago we were fighting huge battles to get you to drink.
Also suddenly, you've become so easy to put to bed. A few pats and you are out like a light.
But you haven't been doing very well in the sleeping through the night department. Not only do you wake up once in the middle of the night (about 2 to 3am) for a little cuddle (we've stopped giving you milk) but you think wake up time is 5am!
Zzzzz.
Socially, you are very wary of strangers. You hate it when people you don't know pick up up.
It takes you a while to warm up but once you do, you give them the biggest and sweetest of grins. Your almond-shaped eyes almost disappear when you smile. And there is the promise of a huge dimple on your left cheek.
You have become more social, particularly with the reles. A good thing baby, to know which side your bread is buttered on.
You "knock" foreheads with your Poppy. You are awfully noisy with your Kongkie. You sing along with Grandma. You listen intently to Grandpa when he shows you his fish. You dance in your Auntie K's arms. And you adore your cousin Marc.
You and your Dad are such buddies now.
The two week break has been great for both of you. He's been able to witness the many amazing things you can do and are learning to do. And you have relished having him around. He's been here to feed, play and cuddle you almost around the clock.
I guess we're super partial but we think you are just the cutest, most loving, sweet child.
Of course, I am still your favourite person.
In the mornings, when you first see me, you beam with such happiness. And you give me your special grin... such pure simple unconditional love.
Your eyes light up when I enter a room. You throw your little body my way. Your arms spring up to be cuddled. When I leave your sight, you cry.
You've also taken to resting your head on my lap when we are playing on the floor, or on my chest when I'm carrying you. A little time out now and then just to be close - me and you - for that moment. It's just the sweetest thing.
Love,
Mom
