Palm Springs

IT has just been way too hot here in the desert.

One day it was 118F and the next 111F, which translates to about 45+C.

So we've been indoors a lot - seeking refuge at the outlets.

To escape the heat, we're heading to Vegas a day early. It is about 5F cooler there.

Anyway some pictures from our week here:

Here we are at the resort, where Z is tucking into a blueberry muffin for breakfast.

Then walking it off back to our villa.

A monster park which Z goes wot with Papa every morning.

Lunch one day: Ruby's diner has great burgers!

At an indoor playground at Westfield SC, where Z held her own with the boys.

All tired out.

The Carousel

Z WAS a little sacred of the horseys but soon got into the swing of things.

I on the other hand felt rather ill from the spinning.

So we were supposed to go to Disneyland today but decided against facing Friday traffic in LA.

We figured Z wouldn't remember any of it anyway.

To make up for it, she had an extra long playtime on the Pier...

...and at her favourite game.

A "Cold Cold" Swim

EVERY morning, D runs an hour and I walk with Z from Muscle Beach to Venice Beach and back.

Z usually naps the whole way.

It took her a week to get over her jetlag but still she likes her mid morning snooze.

Shopping - Holloween stuff already out:

At the beach - Z still hates sand:

A dip in the very "cold cold" Pacific Ocean:

Z much prefers the hotel pool with her Papa:

Santa Monica Jetty

OUR hotel - the very luxe Le Merigot - is just a block from the jetty.

It's become Z's playground.

Z's favourite thing is this boat steering game. Luckily, we don't have to put in 8 quarters for her to enjoy it.

San Francisco

WARNING: This is a long picture laden post.

The weather in SF has supposedly been perfect. Brilliant blue skies, the absence of fog and warm sunshine.

But the wind when it blows has been cold.

Z's cheeks have been rosy since we touched down.

Z has been doing good. Not super which is to be expected after dragging her more than half-way around the world.

During our week in SF, Z was waking up between 3-4.30am.

On Labor day night, she had multiple freak outs and the guy sleeping next door to us ended up banging on the wall. The poor dude who had obviously come to SF for a relaxing long weekend certainly didn't get it!

During the day, Z was her normal happy self - until she needed to sleep and eat. Of course, rather confused by the time lag - we weren't quite sure what she wanted and neither was she!

But still we managed to see quite a bit of the city.

Day 1: At Union Square and Pier 39.

Day 2: Chocolate tasting at Ghirardelli Square, hiking up Fort Mason and around the Marina

Day 3: Dim sum breakfast in Chinatown and hanging in Yerba Buena Park, which Z just LOVED.

Day 4: A ferry ride to Sausalito.

You may notice abrasions on her chin (Dad's fault) and a big bruise on the right side of her face (Mine and the TV cabinet's fault). Oops!

Day 5: A cable car ride

And hanging with Aunty Hui Lin - her "favourite" aunt - in the fog up Twin Peaks.
